Clay Strong
"This Moment" means to emphasize the present and our existing situation. We highlight our feelings as we reflect on all that Clay has overcome to get to this current moment in time. He has hit countless bumps and obstacles in life, but always gets up triumphant - and with a smile! On paper, Clay has been dealt a lot of unfortunate cards in life. Thankfully, he can’t read yet and does not let any diagnosis define him! Clay is definition a warrior and truly writing his own story in life! He has been through multiple brain surgeries, countless procedures, and endless clinic visits, but he always manages to emerge undefeated and belly laughing! To date he has had over half a dozen surgeries, countless sedated procedures, and is followed by 12 speciality clinics at Children's. Clay’s persistence and happy attitude in life are what best define him! He may have to work a lot harder in life to achieve small victories, but he is such a cheerful soul, he doesn’t let anything hinder his spirit!
Our family has participated in Walk for Children’s for the last 7 years. A few years ago we even participated remotely by boating our miles! We are so thankful to be back and walking in person with our family and friends to celebrate all Clay has accomplished. Clay truly has the best support system! Our families, friends, therapists, doctors, and nurses all help us celebrate every aspect of Clay! We are forever grateful for our support system - both at home and at Children’s. We have an amazing team of doctors that have gotten to know Clay over the years and always put his needs first. Our hope is every child that needs it, gets to experience the level of care we have received at Children’s over the years!
That’s why we are fundraising for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh – so that we can Give Kids A Chance To Be Kids!
