On May 10th, 2024, Samuel Steffine came into our lives and made the biggest impact. We didn’t know it at the time, but he would show our family truly what it means to be a warrior. After getting his diagnosis of Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome just hours before his birth, he has gone through more in his little life than some people will in their lifetime.

Last year when our family participated in The Walk for Children’s, Sammy had been admitted to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh since he was born. He had already undergone his first major open heart surgery at only three days old: The Norwood. A few months later, he would undergo his second open heart surgery: The Glenn. This year, he walks with us!

Today, we walk for our Superman Sammy. We walk for all of the children who face daily battles that are hard to comprehend. We walk for the nurses at Children’s Hospital, who care for not only their patients, but the families as well. We walk for the doctors and surgeons, who perform miracles daily.
