Welcome to Charlie's Champions!
Our family is once again participating in the 2026 Walk for Children’s presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan because we want to help revolutionize children's health.
We will be joining thousands of others in our community and across the world in the fight to power the advanced care that can change a child's life. Charlie was diagnosed at just 20 weeks gestationally with Hypoplastic Left Heart Disease, a severe congenital heart defect that affects 1 in every 5,000 births worldwide. He received life-saving care from the cardiothoracic surgery team with 3 open-heart surgeries, starting at just 1 week old and the last at 2 years old. He continues to be followed by his cardiology and psychology teams at Children's biannually. We are happy to share Charlie is now approaching his 6th year around the sun, and living life to the fullest each day! Our family rests easy knowing we are in the best hands with the most impressive teams of hospitalists imaginable.
