My brother is five years younger than me, and, because of him, Children’s Hospital has played a large role in my life. He was born nine weeks early and developed encephalitis while still in the hospital, which left him with severe mental and physical disabilities. From the numerous surgeries, to trying to find relief from seizures, Children’s Hospital has always been a place that my family has felt we could trust with my brother’s care. Fast forward to 2024, I had to start meeting with specialists for my second daughter before she was even born. At only two years old she already has three specialists, all of whom are Children’s Hospital doctors. Any time that a family member, especially a child, has a medical issue it is scary, but I #WalkforChildrens because they make sure that you know they are on your side to help in any way possible.
