Anna's Army

I am participating in Walk for Children’s  presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan because I want to make a difference for sick kids and their families.

I will be joining thousands of others in my community and across the world in support of a movement to advance pediatric health care for kids and families in need.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation to my page. You, too, can help provide hope, healing, and healthier futures for the brave kids at UPMC Children’s Hospital.

We walk because of a brave little girl that has gone though a lot in her 10 years of life. My 10 year old daughter Anna was diagnosed with Microcephaly at the age of 6 months.   She has had a lot of tests and therapy due to this. This illness sadly does not have a cure.  At the age of two we found out she has a heart murmur wail she was under anesthesia for a mri of her brain.  She was then diagnosed with autisum at age 7. Then a few months later she got diagnosed with adhd.  She was born  at 37 weeks old and 6 lbs. It was not an easy pregnancy. The first night after she was born she stopped breathing and turned blue. The nurses where able to help and got her back breathing.  She lost all of her birth weight. she was 3 pounds for a long time. I had to work extra hard to help her latch on every feeding resulting in having to supplement her feeding with a bottle.  She would get sick and though up regularly after she ate. We also had to do an allergy test on her at a very young age. This resulted in me having to change what I eat when she was  nursing and now watching everything she eats. She is unable to digest a number of foods. She still gets sick if she gets the wrong things.  She goes to p.t. , o.t. and speech weekly. There are a lot of developmental delays with her. She has many health problems that she deals with like a champ and new ones that we are still finding out about.  We continue to have new things we are working though with her. One big newer problem is her panic attacks. They are not always easy to detect when she will have one.   She is dealing with her eye sight slowly getting worse every year. Her balance and strength is not great but she works tough it. She gets tired rather fast and has to take many breaks when we are walking for long periods of time. She loves to swim and spends a lot of time in the pool during the summer. She hates Loud sounds and big crowds of people.  She tends to keep to her self and has a few people that she feels comfortable around. The people she loves she shows in her own way.
