Welcome to Team Brave Maeve!
Hi and welcome to team Brave Maeve! I was diagnosed with B Cell ALL, a specific type of leukemia, on November 20,2023. Over the past 18 months I have spent many long stretches in the hospital receiving inpatient treatments and many days in the outpatient clinic.
I have lived up to my last name, "Krieger", which means "warrior" in German, and have been fighting the leukemia alongside my family, other patient friends, and wonderful team of doctors and nurses at UPMC Children's Hospital. I am happy to share that at the end February 2025 I had my one year anniversary of my remission from cancer. We're looking forward to ending all of my cancer treatments by December 2025.
My brother, Teddy, will also be a patient champion with me on the day of the walk. Last month he was admitted to the ER and OR to drain a lymph node abscess on his neck. He's doing great and the problem is fully resolved. He missed me so much during my last inpatient stay, he must have planned to get admitted to Children's for 4-days!
I have been blessed with the advanced treatments and resources that UMPC Children’s has been able to provide me during my treatment. This includes being able to receive a new immunotherapy that taught my body to fight ALL on its own!
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by donating as to my page and joining me for the Walk for Children's event on June 7th. Let's take a walk to help all the patients at UPMC Children's.
