On May 13 2022, our daughter Eloise Marie Werkmann was born. We have known since January that she was going to be facing some challenges as soon as she made her debut, and naturally were a little frightened. The doctors told us that she had a left sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and would need extra care. At first this news was devastating, but then the interaction with doctors from Children's Hospital began. Fear still existed but as soon as she was transferred to childrens, within hours of her birth, those fears quickly faded. The quality of care is next to none, and we could not be more thankful for the care they have given to our precious daughter.
I am participating in Walk for Children’s 2023 presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan because I want to make a difference for sick kids and their families. I will be joining thousands of others in my community and across the world in support of a movement to advance pediatric health care for kids and families in need.
Every child deserves the chance to just be a kid. But for kids who are sick or injured, hospital visits and treatments can take time away from the activities that make being a kid so special.
