Sophia Strong
Another beautiful year around the sun! My mom says we spent too much time this year at Children's Hospital for her mom heart to handle. BUT we made the most of our sleepovers and stays and truly see that we are so blessed. (And I learned that nurses and doctors think I am cute so I get lemon slushies!)
After various sleep studies, blood work, EEGS and scans, I officially received a diagnosis of Benign Rolandic Epilepsy (BRE) but God is holding me in His arms as I continue to thrive without set backs. I wake up each day with a smile on my face and have all of the energy in the world. Mom and Dad tell me I am so strong but I already knew that. We all pray I stay exactly the way I am today.
I am getting surgery this month to remove my tonsils and adenoids. My nights can be difficult so this surgery should help a lot! Bina had this done last year so I know I will be just as brave as her. Children's Hospital continues to take care of me in so many ways. Our whole family trusts this institution, the passionate doctors and care teams, and God whole heartedly to help me and my sister grow.
We are forever thankful for Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for helping me become a survivor. So we are asking you to please:
Date: Saturday, June 8, 2024
Location: Flagstaff Hill at Schenley Park
We all join together before the race to take part in the festivities and head to Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh after to keep the celebration going!
Hope to see you June 8th!
Love,
The Detwilers
