Welcome to My Personal Page
I am participating in Walk for Children’s 2022 presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan because I want to make a difference for sick kids and their families. I will be joining thousands of others in my community and across the world in support of a movement to advance pediatric health care for kids and families in need.
Every child deserves the chance to just be a kid. But for kids who are sick or injured, hospital visits and treatments can take time away from the activities that make being a kid so special.
Why we walk...
Our daughter Nora was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, an aggressive pediatric brain tumor only a few weeks after turning two. After undergoing brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as we safely could, Nora would go on to receive 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 3 rounds of high-dose chemotherapy, 30 treatments of proton radiation to her brain and spine followed by intrathecal radiation. Nora's journey took us to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Memorial Sloane Kettering Hospital in NYC.
After what would be close to a year battle with cancer, Nora was diagnosed with Pneumonia and we lost her in October of 2018. There is a promise we made her that has turned into our life mantra and that's 'to always share her light'. If you were lucky enough to know her and spend time in her presence you know the light we are talking about. It was inevitable and everyone around her could feel it. We call it Nora bean's light.
We walk to share her light with all of those who need it most. The families awaiting treatment on the 9th floor. The families waiting for clear scans and their child to step into remission. We walk for the doctors who are working endlessly to discover better and safer treatment options for our children. We walk for kids who deserve to be kids. We walk for Nora.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation to my page. You, too, can help provide hope, healing, and healthier tomorrows for the brave kids at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
Thank you for your support as I Walk for Children’s!
