Welcome to My Personal Page
We are participating in Walk for Children’s 2022 in honor of Hannah, a former Children’s Hospital patient, and in memory of her twin brother, Tyler David, that was born sleeping. Hannah was born at 29 weeks due to the miscarriage of her brother. She weighed in at just 2 1/2 lbs. She was doing great from the beginning, just needed to gain weight before she could come home. At 11 days old, our world flipped upside down. She developed a life threatening intestinal infection and was transported to Children’s Hospital where she underwent life saving surgery at 2 weeks old. She made it through surgery and the critical 48 hours after. She then needed to rest, heal, and gain weight before being allowed to come home. She spent about 8 weeks in the incubator at Children’s Hospital and then she was transferred to The Children’s Home-a step down unit just down the road from the hospital-since she was not in need of the critical care of the NICU, but still not ready to come home. On December 14th, Hannah came out of the incubator and kept her body temperature up long enough and passed all tests that she needed to be able to come home on the 15th, 11 1/2 weeks after birth. But our journey with the hospital didn’t stop there. Hannah went back into Children’s Hospital at the end of January for a corrective surgery. She spent 3 weeks there after surgery and then was sent home. Two days later we were back at the hospital-the surgery failed and she once again had to go through life saving surgery. She recovered at the hospital for 2 weeks and then was sent home to heal, rest, gain more weight, and prepare for what we were praying would be the last surgery needed. At 9 months old, Hannah went back to the hospital for her final surgery-it was successful!!! In total, with her original stay and the stays after surgeries, she was in the care of the hospital for about 14 weeks. The staff there was amazing with her and with supporting Jeremy and I throughout that time.
We are walking to help give support to the families, to help the patients get everything they need to help them heal, and to make the patients’ stays more fun and easier by providing them with age appropriate toys and activities while they are in the hospital. We encourage our family and friends to donate and get involved with such a life changing fundraiser.
Thank you for your support as we Walk for Children’s!
