Emmary's Story
Forever and always our little heart warrior.
Our Emmary Faith was born October 25th at 12:57 pm, her birth was perfect and she appeared perfectly beautiful ❤ My husband and I were so happy and blessed to welcome our 5th baby into the family and we couldn’t wait to take her home to meet the rest of the family and her 4 anxious siblings. Little did we know, it wouldn’t t be until about 4 weeks later that we could bring her home. About 7 hours after her birth her color turned dusky and her lips had a purplish cast to them. The nurse on call did a pulse ox and she was sitting in the low 60’s. She was rushed to the NICU where they tried to stabilize Emmary but it wasn’t working. She wasn’t responding to oxygen, and the medical team was puzzled as to what was wrong with our precious baby. She was life flighted to CHP an hour later, and there she was diagnosed with TGA -Transposition Of The Great Arteries. She was admitted to the CICU where she received the upmost, best, care we could ask for. They stabilized her and performed a major open heart surgery on her at 7 days old. I can say without a doubt this was one of the hardest things to endure as a parent, seeing our baby fight to live and give her all. But she showed us that she was so strong, and so resilient, and she was going to fight to win this battle in her life! And she did! We are so thankful and blessed for the amazing cardiac surgeons at CHP and the phenomenal care the CICU staff gave Emmary . Our Emmary wouldn’t be here today without the phenomenal team of cardiologist’s and surgeons at CHP, they saved her life and we are so so thankful and blessed to have access to such a wonderful cardiac team. We are so proud to say that Emmary is doing so well and she is truly a blessing and a strong little fighter. The Lord is so good, he carried our little Emmary all the way through this battle and she is always and forever our little heart warrior❤❤ She recovered like a little champ and made it home to meet her brothers and sisters at 23 days old. She truly truly is a strong resilient little blessing-our precious Emmary Faith.
I am participating in Walk for Children’s 2022 presented by UPMC and UPMC Health Plan because I want to make a difference for sick kids and their families. I will be joining thousands of others in my community and across the world in support of a movement to advance pediatric health care for kids and families in need.
Every child deserves the chance to just be a kid. But for kids who are sick or injured, hospital visits and treatments can take time away from the activities that make being a kid so special.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation to my page. You, too, can help provide hope, healing, and healthier tomorrows for the brave kids at UPMC Children’s Hospital.
Thank you for your support as I Walk for Children’s!
