Before asking friends and family to donate to your walk page, it’s important for you to realize just how much of a difference you are making.

The funds raised at Walk for Children’s, help provide our patients and their families with hope in the darkest of times and healing when they need it the most.

Because of your support, each year,

  • 100 children receive lifesaving transplants
  • More than 1,000 tiny NICU babies receive care
  • More than 1,000 kids and young adults receive the latest and most effective cancer treatment
  • More than 35,000 local children at 71 schools receive community health and wellness programming

Fundraising Tips

Our team is here to help you, every step of the way! Keep these tips in mind when fundraising:

Share your Story

Make your walk fundraising page personal! You can add pictures, update your fundraising goal, and tell your story. This helps your donors feel more connected to your mission. On average, walkers that personalize their page raise $275! Even if you don’t have a direct UPMC Children's connection, share why you are passionate about Walk for Children’s.

Get Social

Sharing on social media is one of the easiest ways to increase your fundraising! Create a post on Facebook, share an Instagram story, tweet out your fundraising page link, or even share with your LinkedIn connections! Make sure you tag us @ChildrensPgh and use the hashtag #WalkForChildrens. You’d be surprised who may donate to you just from seeing your post on social media.

Reach out Directly

Not everyone may see your posts on social media. Make sure you reach out to your friends and family through email, text, or phone call to let them know that you’re walking for Children’s this year! When sending something out, make sure you include the URL link to your fundraising page. You can find that in your participant center.

Thank You!

A final, but crucial, step is thanking your donors. Send a note or give a call to everyone who donated to you. They’ll be sure to support you for years to come!

Matching Gifts

Does Your Company Match Charitable Donations?

Many businesses and corporations match charitable gifts (and volunteer hours) made by their employees, retirees, and employee spouses’ dollar for dollar. To find out if your employer (or your spouse’s employer) is one of the 17,000 companies that match gifts, please use our search tool below, or contact your HR department to see if your company offers a matching gifts program.

Your matching contribution will be credited towards your fundraising goal once it has been received.
